They have always been the masters of coordinated group style. Their clothes were designed not just for the four band members to stand out but also to avoid spending so much money on taxes. The Swedish tax authorities deduct taxes on “fanciful” work clothes. To this end, they could not use their work clothes for personal purposes and they made sure to wear the tackiest clothes to avoid wearing them outside of work. Their style of clothing shared some common characteristics with the fashion of the 70s. They usually wore shiny and sequined suits, flared pants, high platforms (both men and women in the group), bright colors (complemented the positive energy of their music), extravagant hairstyles and above all, they always went with coordinated looks. Furthermore, they wanted to attract attention and they found the perfect way to be remembered. Abba stood out for its distinctive musical style that combined elements of pop, rock, disco and some Swedish folk music. In addition, they had the impeccable voices of Agnetha and Frida, very catchy melodies, emotional and personal lyrics and their songs could be danced. Many people felt identified with their lyrics.
